If budget is not an issue, Hikvision has up to 12 megapixels camera but do note that the higher the resolution, the higher the bandwidth so its definitely necessary to upgrade the hard disk drive.

However, if the purpose is primarily just to see the overview movements and more of a deterrence, 1080p is good!
